Abengoa will establish a leadership position in the bioenergy industry and become the world-class producer of energy from renewable sources. It is ABNT's mission and ultimate goal to fulfill this vision through development of leading-edge manufacturing technologies and the implementation of best-class operational performance.

ABNT takes the leadership role in developing the research and development strategic plan which determines which projects and initiatives will be focused on within ABC. Plan objectives include:

• Improve current dry-mill bioethanol process yields.
• Develop and commercialize cost-competitive biomass conversion. technologies
• Increase by-products value.
• Create demonstration programs for bioethanol end uses.

Cost-effectiveness is at the heart of every R&D action. Generally, there are three strategic objectives

• Improve process yields and increase ethanol capacity.
• Improve coproduct quality and develop new animal feed co-products.
• Develop and demonstrate cost-competitive technologies for new biomass facilities.
